Gaining New Perspective Through Gratitude

Are you ready to change your perspectives on how you are seeing life? In a recent episode of The Bill Perry Show, Kevin Monroe shared some thoughts on connecting with others, acknowledging areas of your life for which you are grateful, and changing your perspective on how you view the world. This conversation is meaningful because it offers a great call to action for individuals to see their lives through a new lens. The lens of gratitude.

Gratitude is an opportunity to see things from a larger perspective and lets you focus on the positive with a new level of appreciation. This principle of acknowledging things and people for which we are grateful can not only have a major impact on our personal lives but also within businesses. When intentional gratitude is expressed, the possibilities are amazing. It shifts your perspective on how you view the world. There are still bad things happening in the world and possibly in your life, but those are no longer your focus. It allows us to see and experience the world differently. Kevin says, “It’s the thoughts we bring to life.” So, good things are not magically appearing. They have always been there. But now you can see them.

When incorporated into an office setting, gratitude can create a new atmosphere with a healthy team. Leadership within all levels of business can make the choice to improve the dynamic in their office. They can engage differently with their teams, and those teams can subsequently have an impact on others around them. The effects can be amazing, and it can be very simple to implement. Kevin notes, “What I have witnessed and heard are people who are leaders who started practicing gratitude and brought gratitude into their team and started. And this was not something we're preaching or saying “this is what you need.” It's just people heard this, started doing it, started opening their team meetings with what are we grateful for?” And the results have been outstanding. As those positive things are openly discussed, employee engagement is improved and the perspective and attitude people display changes. In fact, Kevin noted that in one company where worklife was horrible, “they started gratitude, and it shifted the energy of the company.” This is quite a testimony. We all have problems in our lives, and while we have to pay attention to those, we also have to give attention to people, experiences, and situations for which we are grateful.

If you want to get started, take Kevin’s Gratitude Challenge. It is a call to be intentionally grateful. The challenge provides you with 10 days of prompts which are things and people to consider in your life...things to examine and decide how you can approach with gratitude. This will give you the opportunity to expand your vision to look beyond the negativity in your life and see that there is much more going on...it will give you the grace to see your life in a new light.
